10 Funniest South Park Characters Ever

1. Randy Marsh

Mr. Mackey
Comedy Central

Is South Park the only show to ever take a background character who rarely spoke in his early days and homogeneously integrate him as the main focus of the entire series going forward? While that might be up for debate, one thing that certainly isn't is the fact that Randy Marsh, with no exception, is the heart, soul and repugnantly sadistic catalyst of Parker and Stone's unique style of comedy.

It seems like every other episode since bringing him to the forefront, Randy's doing something obscenely wrong, ludicrously zany or just ultimately stupid. He's grown more than any character, but at the same time, regressed more than any. His endeavours have become so extreme from the more innocuous factors of buying a cannabis farm, or becoming a celebrity chef, all the way to earth-shattering events such as trying to emancipate the Chinese or even unleashing COVID-19 on the world after unsolicited sex with a bat.

Randy's become almost like an avatar to the show's creators, meaning that they can use the character to get across points, internal turmoil, fears - in the exceptionally emotional "You're Getting Old" - and hopes and dreams for the future. Randy may just be a cartoon character, but he's had just as much impact on the creators as he has had on the wider audience, due to his intelligence, negligence and capricious lack of sense.
