10 Game Of Thrones Celebrity Cameos You Totally Missed
7. Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson
Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson won the role of Gregor Clegane a.k.a. The Mountain after being noticed performing in various 'strong man' competitions, though his character only appears occasionally. He has held the title of Iceland's Strongest Man since 2011, won Europe's Strongest Man in 2014, and in the same year finished second in the World event, as well as trialling for the Indianapolis Colts NFL team. He's an absolutely gigantic presence, perfect for the role, though he wasn't the original choice. The Mountain was originally played by Conan Stevens, though he dropped out due to other projects, including The Hobbit, in which he plays the Orc leader Bolg. Ian Whyte - who featured as a White Walker in the first two seasons - was Stevens' successor, though he was moved to play the part of the bow-wielding giant in Watchers On The Wall, before Björnsson was given the nod to implode Prince Oberyn's face.
