7. Old Nan

She may have seemed like a simple old lady with a knack for telling stories that horrified the children of Winterfell, and well, that's pretty much all she was. However, the stories she told have had great significance in foreshadowing the future and filling in the blanks of the past. But whatever happened to Old Nan? Sadly, actress Margaret John died less than two months before the Pilot episode aired. She has completed all of her scenes and was kept in the show, though her character was subtly written out of the story in respect of John's death. In the show's universe, the showrunners stated that Old Nan had quietly passed away between the first two seasons.
