10 Game Of Thrones Fates Worse Than Death
6. Not Such Quality Family Time
Ellaria Sand makes her debut in season four of Game Of Thrones, arriving grandly with her love Prince Oberyn Martell. After witnessing Oberyn's death at the hands of The Mountain, she returns to her home in Dorne, fostering a fierce desire to inflict revenge on Cersei Lannister, whom she blames for the death of her beloved.
Oberyn's brother, Prince Doran, ruler of the House Martell, has different ideas, going so far as to return their valuable possession, Myrcella Baratheon. Seemingly placated, Ellaria kisses Myrcella on the lips as she departs for King's Landing, transmitting a deadly poison to the girl which proceeds to take her life aboard the returning ship.
Ellaria's bleak fate is set in motion. Also not one to forget a transgression, Cersei Lannister has a terrible final existence organised for the Dornish woman. Imprisoned beneath The Red Keep following their capture by Euron Greyjoy, Ellaria is forced to watch as Cersei poisons her eldest daughter, Tyene, in the same manner that Ellaria killed her daughter, Myrcella. Only Ellaria is forced to endure the purgatory of watching her child fade away and turn to dust as the poison slowly eats away at Tyene. When it comes to revenge, there are few better than Cersei Lannister.
