5. Ternesio Terys (Gary Oliver)

The presence of this character is violation of the rules because Ternesio appears in both “The Children” and the Season 5 opener, “The Wars to Come”. However, an exception must be made because Ternesio Terys makes quite the impression.

Arya meets him in the Riverlands, preparing his vessel for a voyage home to Braavos. He is dismissive and annoyed by the ragged peasant girl until she presents him the Braavosi coin given to her way back in Season 2 by Jaqen H'Ghar (Tom Wlaschia). At first, he seems ready to accuse her of waving around something she does not understand like it is a toy. But her confident "Valar Morghulis" changes his whole demeanor.

Gary Oliver delivers the response of "Valar Dohaeris" with such reverence that the audience immediately understands what it means to be "a man of Braavos". And though Arya earned this coin, the irony is that when Ternesio drops her off at the House of Black and White in the Season 5 premiere, she still does not understand the magnitude of the choice she has made. But Ternesio Terys does, because he is a man of Braavos and has obviously led a life worthy of its' own show.
