10 Game Of Thrones Scene Stealers

6. Fennesz (Trevor Allan Davies)

Fennesz has one scene but in that limited screen time he makes a lasting impression. Appearing in the Season 4 finale, “The Children”, Fennesz is a freed slave who wishes to return to the service of the family who once owned him. His eloquent, emotional, but firm argument before Daenerys unsettles both her and her advisors. For the first time in the show’s history, Daenerys is governing instead of simply conquering and Fennesz’s request is something she is wholly unprepared for.

His description of the shelters set up for freed slaves is heartbreaking. And his genuine affection for both the man who owned him and the children he tutored is hard for both the audience and Dany to grapple with. Daenerys has forged a new world, but it seems that it’s one in which the old may not survive. Trevor Allan Davies packs so much depth into a scene that, in hindsight, illustrates how difficult it is for the Dragon Queen to think of her subjects as anything other than an adoring mass.
