10 Great Horror TV Shows You Can Binge-Watch In One Sitting
5. American Gothic
If you're into more sinister TV shows, be sure to check out American Gothic from 1995. The show focused on a sheriff named Lucas Black, who utilized his supernatural abilities to commit all kinds of travesties, from deceit to murder. In his way, however, was his long-lost offspring, Caleb Temple. While Sheriff Black seized control over Trinity, South Carolina, he also attempted to convince Temple to join him in his evil endeavours.
Right off the bat, American Gothic got down and dirty. In the first episode alone, the Temple family was murdered, a ghost was sighted, otherworldly powers were abused, and it ended in a shroud of mystery to keep viewers tuned in for the next episode.
The only sin American Gothic ever committed (if it committed any at all) was that it didn't blend in well with the rest of the 1995 CBS format. The show wasn't cut off after one season because no one was watching. In fact, it fared well with critics and fans alike. It simply got the corporate ax for not fitting in with other shows, such as Murder She Wrote, which wasn't something showrunners necessarily controlled. The 22 episodes of American Gothic we got are must-watch for all horror-lovers, nonetheless.
