Ah, the first day in a new school - new opportunities, new friends and new experiences. For Will McKenzie in The Inbetweeners, the future doesn’t look quite so bright.

From the very first episode, the decks are stacked against him - he is thrown together with the other new starters at the school (the “freaks” as Will refers to them), is forced to wear a massive green badge proclaiming he’s new, and immediately finds himself at odds with sociopathic head of sixth form Mr Gilbert. Not to mention, Will is not quite as charming, or clever, as he seems to think he is.

Despite these obstacles, Will naturally wants to fit in right away. So he figures the best way to do this is to launch into a tirade about Mr Gilbert to his decidedly unimpressed classmates, complete with a pretty vulgar imitation (“I just love to suck the headmaster’s balls!”).

Will’s new nemesis is of course, standing directly behind him. Mr Gilbert orders a very reluctant Simon to guide the new kid around the school, and a beautiful comedy friendship is born.
