5. Robb & Talisa Game Of Thrones
Now this article didnt mention anything about being totally exclusive to sitcoms or romantic comedies, and couples dont just break up because of theyre sick of the sight of each other. Especially in Westeros. By now, you should all be well-versed in the events of the infamous Red Wedding, in which the Stark family were systematically slaughtered by the traitorous Walter Frey and Roose Bolton. A shocking and distressing scene, sure, but there was one additional detail that the show added that wasnt present in the books the death of Robb Starks heavily pregnant wife, Talisa. Robb Stark learnt the consequences of choosing love over strategy the hard way. The first casualties of the Red Wedding were the incredibly graphic and brutal murders of Talisa and her unborn child. What makes it even worse to watch is the fact that we were treated to a lovely bit of dialogue about 2 minutes beforehand about what the proud parents were going to call their new born child (it was Eddard, by the way as if it couldnt get any worse). An absolutely horrifying scene in its own right but the fact that it tore apart Game of Thrones most stable and likable couple took it to another level of heartbreak.
