10 Horror Television Episodes That Are Practically Flawless

9. The Trial - What We Do In The Shadows

Stranger Things Dear Billy
FX

What We Do in the Shadows has been a veritable hit for FX ever since its 2019 premiere. The mockumentary comedy-horror has been showered with praise for its side-splitting performances and razor-sharp writing - with Jemaine Clement's latest triumph already renewed for a sixth season ahead of the fifth season premiere.

Following the exploits of three vampiric roommates and their "familiar" living in Staten Island, the show has produced several exemplary outings to date. The Curse and The Cloak of Duplication spring to mind as frontrunners for a flawless episode, but ultimately there can only be one: Season One's star-studded seventh instalment, The Trial.

Nandor, Laszlo and Nadja are summoned before the Vampiric Council to explain Baron Afanas' death; the only issue being that they were all too sh*t-faced on drug-infused blood to remember what actually happened. It's uproarious satirical genius, carried off by the usual exemplary performances from Kayvan Novak, Matt Berry and Natasia Demetriou, and complemented by the inimitable direction of Taika Waititi.

Its not just the core cast either. The Vampiric Council is made up of a who's-who of cinematic vampirical faces, all of whom turn in glorious cameo performances. Tilda Swinton, Dave Bautista and the aforementioned Waititi all feature, but the highlight has to be Wesley Snipes appearing as a Council member via webcam. The fact that the majority of the council use their real-life names as opposed to some terrifying title is the just the hilarious icing on a ridiculously entertaining cake.
