10 Horror TV Shows That Got Cancelled After Just One Season

4. The Passage

Lovecraft Country
Fox

Trying to tell new stories of vampires and making the creatures of the night fresh is no easy task, with over 100 years' worth of stories and blood-sucking characters already established. The Passage was Fox's attempt at making a new horror sci-fi series with some added sprinkles of thriller tropes to keep audiences coming back.

Based on the pages of the novelised trilogy by Justin Cronin, the first season saw the unlikely alliance between federal agent Brad Wolgast and Amy, a young girl who is selected to become the next test subject for Project Noah as they try to eradicate a deadly new disease. During their travels, Brad has a change of heart and does his best to protect Amy, even leading to a nationwide manhunt conducted and led by ex-CIA agent and friend Clark Richard to bring her to the mysterious facility.

The Passage's many twists and turns - and ending on one of television's most unexpected finales - were not enough to keep a steady number of people tuning in to see where Brad and Amy's journey would go. The pilot may have started out strong with over five million viewers, but by the time the season aired its tenth and last episode, the ratings dropped too low for Fox to renew it for a second season.
