10 Hugely Underrated Fantasy TV Shows From The Last Decade

6. Haven (2010-2015)

Syfy

Haven is so loosely based on the Stephen King novel The Colorado Kid that the association is almost meaningless, but in its four seasons it has proven that it's inventive enough to stand alone. The series begins with FBI Agent Audrey Parker's reassignment to the town of Haven, which she quickly finds is full of people with supernatural abilities ranging from harmless to potentially deadly.

They are ominously referred to as the Troubles, and as the series continues Audrey begins to realise her arrival in Haven wasn't coincidental. The show maintains its monster of the week structure for the majority of its time on air, but the overarching mysteries are usually compelling. Syfy's original series attract some criticism for cheesy dialogue and melodrama, but Haven joins the sadly cancelled Alphas in showing that the network has the capability to produce excellent genre fare.
