5. The Doctor's Assistant Inspires A Sexual Revolution
The Prison In Space by Dick Sharples, otherwise known as The Amazons, is one of the few unmade Doctor Who scripts that would actually still work today. And it was written in 1968, for Patrick Troughton's third season as the Second Doctor. The episode started off on a planet ruled by women, instead of men. Sadly not called Planet Misandry. The concept was previously floated with the First Doctor's The Hidden Planet, but Sharples actually went all-in with the concept. During their time on the female-dominated planet companion Zoe inspired a sexual revolution before being brainwashed, whilst fellow partner Jamie experimented with dressing in women's clothing. Sadly, the climax of the episode was planned to be far less radical namely, with The Doctor deprogramming Zoe's mind control by spanking her. Ew. Changes in the cast kept pushing production of the script back, and Sharples refused to rewrite it, so eventually a disgruntled crew opted to drop it completely.
