2. A Date With Conquest
As fans of the show are already aware, Invincible has never shied away from brutal battles. Mark's development into full-time, fully grown superhero continues at a steady pace in the series' first third, and a handful of contests occupy his time throughout. However, it's not until the introduction of Viltrumite heavy Conquest that Kirkman once again reminds us of Invincible's liberal approach to brutality.
Sent to earth to remind Mark of his responsibilities to Viltrum, Conquest is a hardened brawler who's battle expertise can be seen in his appearance alone. Sporting a brutish frame and plenty of battle scars, he's Mark's toughest test to date. The inevitable battle makes Nolan's fight with Mark look like a playground scrap, with the new adversary seemingly killing Eve before turning his attention back to Grayson.
The pair continue to lock horns - Mark now with the added rage of seeing Eve's untimely demise* -, and our hero finally slays his foe by repeatedly bashing Conquest's face with his super-forehead.
Cecil's scheming ways means Conquest makes a return later on, but the bloody fight between he and Mark makes for one of Invincible's most memorable moments.
