6. If Dead People Ever Start Turning Into Zombies, Don't Bother Asking Why

One thing that has always stuck out for me when watching The Walking Dead is the fact that the virus/infection that turns dead people into zombies had never thoroughly been discussed, and its origins never mentioned at all (other than the fact that everyone is already infected with it). We, the audience, are aligned with Rick in the sense that our view of this post-apocalyptic Earth began at the exact same part as his (in medias res, so to speak) and so as he wasn't around to see the virus spread, neither were we. But the other characters were, and this disturbs me greatly. There have been a couple of odd generalisations along the lines of "When it all started going wrong..." but there has been no insight into exactly
how it started going wrong. Now, I'm no biology boffin, and I've got about as much interest in DNA and chromosomes as I have in Maggie's backstory, but it would be nice to have some discussion (in the form of a flashback, possibly) about the early stages of civilisation's descent, potential government explanations, scientific analysis, and the like. To me, it just seems a little odd that people inside a zombie apocalypse (people who seemingly have no prior knowledge of zombies, opting to call them 'walkers' or 'biters') would not be interested to know why and how the whole thing had come to fruition.
