10 Mind-Blowing Twists In Star Wars: The Clone Wars
2. Fives Uncovers Order 66
At its centre, The Clone Wars was all about the titular clones and their role in the war. It humanised them, gave them each clear identities and defining features, and made them all incredibly endearing over the show's seven seasons.
Watching major clones die was always difficult, despite how often it happened, but the biggest clone-related heartbreak came courtesy of Fives and Tup, two of Rex's closest friends and most trusted soldiers.
During a late-war battle, Tup's behaviour modification chip malfunctioned and he executed a Jedi mid-fight. Anakin sent Tup and Fives to Kamino to figure out what happened, and Fives uncovered a horrifying secret: The chips weren't just to make them ideal soldiers, they were also in place to brainwash them and make them turn on the Jedi.
Fives miraculously managed to escape Kamino with this information - thanks to Jedi Master Shaak Ti - but was framed for the attempted murder of Chancellor Palpatine and killed by his own brothers, much to Rex's dismay. With his death, Order 66 was left undiscovered once more.
