10 Mind-Blowing Twists In Star Wars: The Clone Wars
1. Maul Returns
The biggest mind-blowing twist of them all, though, came in the form of Maul, last seen on screens in 1999's The Phantom Menace, falling to his death after being cut in half by Obi-Wan Kenobi.
No one was expecting the former Sith apprentice to return, but at the end of season three Savage Opress - a vicious killer who hailed from the same planet as Maul - learned that he was still alive, hiding out and insane somewhere in the Outer Rim.
After his insanity was cured by the devious Mother Talzin, Maul joined Savage in a rampage across the Galaxy, with a final goal of destroying Obi-Wan and eventually overthrowing Palpatine.
Maul ended up becoming one of the most important characters in the series, as he overthrew Death Watch with the death of Pre Vizsla, took control of Mandalore after the death of Satine, and duelled Ahsoka during the Siege before escaping Order 66 and forming his own criminal empire.
Not bad for someone last seen in two pieces.
