10 Mistakes Game Of Thrones Can’t Afford To Repeat In Season 6

3. Uneven Coverage Of Plots

Season five has suffered the same ailment that a few seasons have; it was heavy at the tail end. When trying to get from one point to another, Benioff and Weiss have sometimes neglected characters and even whole cities to accomplish this. One minute Stannis is at the Iron bank where Davos is flashing his finger stubs, the next he€™s inexplicably North of the wall.

The uneven coverage makes it difficult for the audience to remember vital information and also creates a warped sense of time. There is seemingly no passage of time between cuts, so we are led to believe that the viewpoint is somewhere between objective and subjective. Like we€™re jumping from one Heart tree to another, missing the action elsewhere.

This narrative quirk is a remnant from the subjectively told points of view in the book, where we see through the eyes and hear the thoughts of a character. Were that the case in the show, the uneven coverage would be in part forgiven, but more measures could have been taken to keep things balanced, like adding or subtracting scenes.
