10 Most Anticipated Horror TV Shows Of 2026
2. Buffy The Vampire Slayer: New Sunnydale
On the big screen, there are few movie studios that seem able to resist the temptation to return to a popular franchise no matter how long it has been. Legacy sequels are all the rage right now, but this doesn't just have to stop in the cinema.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer meshed together a coming of age story with the supernatural and the occult, and was wildly popular for it. The initial run may have ended in 2003, but it will return again in 2026 with New Sunnydale.
The continuation of the series will of course see the triumphant return of Sarah Michelle Gellar in the titular role, along side a cast largely so far made up of new names and faces to the franchise. No word yet on the likes of David Boreanaz, James Marsters, Alyson Hannigan, or Nicholas Brendon, who played favourites Angel, Spike, Willow, and Xander respectively 20 years ago.
Bringing on board ChloƩ Zhao as director is a huge feather in the show's cap, but you'd be forgiven for hoping to see at least a few more familiar faces when Sunnydale returns, but even if not, more Buffy can surely only be a good thing.
