10 Most Awesome Season Finales Of All Time

2. The Sopranos - 'Funhouse' (Season 2)

Breaking Bad Walt Jesse Face off
HBO

The Episode:

There was never a dull moment for Tony Soprano throughout the show's second season, where he faced problems within the business (the release of Richie Aprille from prison causes a headache), as well as ones closer to home (a certain Machiavellian mother and the prospect of daughter Meadow heading to college), but the icy heart of this run of episodes was Tony's growing mistrust of trusted ally, Big Pussy Bonpensiero.

All of this comes to a head in dramatic fashion, where the extent of Tony's ruthlessness is laid bare, all done with a dodgy tummy, it's worth noting. Overall, though, 'Funhouse' set our favourite anti-hero on a dark path that he never really stopped treading. Dark times followed this standout episode.

Best Moment:

After succumbing to a nasty bout of food poisoning, Tony slips into a dream state, culminating in a reckoning he never wanted to happen: an admission from his trusted friend - in the guise of a dead, talking fish, that he is in fact a rat. Cue a fateful boat trip.
