5. Stacey Leaves Eastenders (2010)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vcTP0EDAQTM This storyline was especially notable due to the fact that it had been building for over a year, since Archie raped Stacey, who was then Bradley Brannings long-term girlfriend. Back in 2009 Bradley confronted Archie about the rape, believing him to have impregnated Stacey and punching him twice, before Archie was found dead not long after, leaving Bradley as one of the main suspects for his murder. This storyline seemingly came to a head in February 2010, when Bradley and Stacey were about to marry, as the police move to arrest Bradley following a phone call made by Stacey's friend Becca, informing them that Archie raped Stacey. As Bradley and Stacey attempt to flee Albert Square, Bradley has to return to his home to retrieve their forgotten passports, but is pursued by Police when they hear his mobile phone ringtone. Bradley climbed a fire escape to avoid capture, fleeing the Police across rooftops, but eventually, upon reaching the roof of the Queen Vic, Bradley calls out to Stacey to run away before losing his footing and falling to his death in full view of her and also his father, Max with whom Stacey once had a prolonged affair. As Max drags Stacey away from the horrible image of her fiancée's dead body, she reveals to him that she is in fact Archie's killer and it is her fault that Bradley is now dead. On Christmas Day 2010, Janine Butcher attempts to frame Stacey for stabbing her because her ex, Ryan, is in fact the father of Staceys baby, Lily, and left Janine because he has feelings for Stacey. Max stops Stacey from committing suicide and drives her to the airport, but not before Stacey reveals to various people that she is in fact Archies killer. Before she gets on a plane Max confesses his love for her and offers to leave with her, but Stacey tells him that Bradley was the only true love of her life, before leaving Walford forever. Incredibly watchable and ending a vital storyline for Eastenders that had been running for an incredibly long time, this is exactly the kind of story that we wish could end happily, with Stacey and Bradley both surviving and leaving to stay together forever, but in reality, we all know that this ending was much more entertaining anyway.
