10 Most Controversial Changes Made In Arrowverse Shows
1. Olicity
Any comic fan worth their salt knows that Oliver Queen's soulmate is and always will be Dinah Laurel Lance. The Green Arrow and Black Canary are as royal to the comics as Lois and Clark, Diana and Steve or Bruce and Selina, but Arrow's writers thought they knew best... and, in attempting to prove that, only highlighted how wrong they were.
Changing their original plan two seasons in, the creative team decided to position quirky and nerdy IT girl Felicity Smoak as Oliver's love interest instead all because Stephen Amell and Emily Bett Rickards had some nice chemistry. And while the chemistry was undeniable, it ultimately resulted in the showrunners turning this incredible Green Arrow adaptation into little more than fanfiction.
Olicity certainly had their moments, but it's hard to even look at a picture of them without thinking of the hell that they put the show through in its third and fourth seasons, as it devolved into a melodramatic daytime soap, stripped both characters of their redeemable qualities and even killed off Black Canary because why the hell not, right?
Hey, it seemed like a good idea at the time...
