5. Daenerys Targaryen
Though Daenerys’ death wasn’t the worst moment within Season 8, it was still a disappointing end for the Mother of Dragons.
Since the first season, she had been one of the most prevalent and heroic characters in the show, and her evolution from a timid princess to a confident and threatening queen was a superb character arc. Consequently, she deserved a great death scene.
The actual circumstances of her death weren’t particularly problematic. (Indeed, it was nice to finally see Jon do something important in Season 8.) The main issue was that Daenerys’ death lacked any kind of emotional punch due to her poor character development in the previous episodes.
She went from rational to irrational alarmingly fast, and then decided to burn King’s Landing to the ground with no remorse whatsoever for her actions. As such, her death scene fell flat, as it was neither satisfying nor emotional.
