10 Most Disappointing Death Scenes In Game Of Thrones

2. The Night King

Daenerys Game Of Thrones

For seven seasons the Night King was built up as the ultimate embodiment of death. His cold exterior in tandem with his merciless approach to killing was always a frightening spectacle.

Despite such a terrific build up, he was taken down in just one episode in Season 8. Due to the fact that the eighth season was only six episodes in length, it was impossible to give the Night King more time to show what he and his army were capable of.

Had he managed to penetrate further into Westeros before meeting his end, his death would have felt gratifying rather than disappointing. The fact that the Night King didn't make it past Winterfell was particularly disappointing given that several of the teasers for the final season had suggested that he would be a much more prominent force.

The decision to make Arya deliver the final blow also felt odd. Jon Snow had always been the Night King’s main revival, and he should have been the one to ultimately defeat him. Granted, this would have been more predictable, but it would have been much more satisfying.
