10 Most Hated Doctor Who Characters

9. The Abzorbaloff

Doctor Who Peter Kay Abzorbaloff Love & Monsters
BBC Studios

Peter Kay's turn as the Abzorbaloff comes from all the right places and hits all the wrong notes. In the first Doctor-lite episode, The Abzorbaloff disguises himself and infiltrates LINDA, a group of die-hard Doctor fans, in an effort to lure the Timelord to his death, which goes about as well as you'd expect.

The design of the creature came from a contest for children and, with the greatest respect in the world - it shows. Like a cross between phlegm and a dinosaur, the alien is far from intimidating. Kay's performance veered toward pantomime, which makes the final ten minutes of the episode a mess. There is no threat coming from him to the point that The Doctor and Rose barely acknowledge him. While that in itself is no crime, it makes one wonder what the point of him was, to begin with.

Comprised of the different people he had absorbed, he is dissolved as they pull him in different directions and his focusing device is broken. That, then, is it. Thankfully the creature is never seen or heard from again, except for various jokes about his home planet, Clom, from time to time.
