2. Lost
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e3D6EG35WP0 From the very beginning of Lost, its creators assured us that everything had an explanation and they weren't just making it up as they went along, two claims that turned out to be a complete lie by the time the last episode aired. First and foremost, the creators swore that there wouldn't be any sort of an afterlife or "they were dead the whole time" ending, and an afterlife ending is pretty much exactly what we got. Though the ending is rather messy - and seemingly intentionally so - it appears that if you die on the island, you move forward to an afterlife way-station of sorts, which appears to be the flash-sideways events that began occurring in the final season. It was only when everyone on the island had died that they could all meet in the series' final scene, set inside a church, where they all hug each other for what seems like forever, and then proceed onto "the next stage", which we can only assume is Heaven. Really, it's a pile of old toss and completely betrays the sense of mystery that had been established at the outset. Though to be fair, I knew it was all going to go downhill the second we saw a character actually pull a cork out of the middle of the island. Terrible, terrible, terrible.
