10 Most Messed Up Deaths In Star Trek: Lower Decks

7. Pakleds, Really?

Captain Dayton and the crew of the USS Solvang had one of the more tragic endings in Star Trek: Lower Decks. Long before they took over the fresh-out-of-the-wrapped USS Solvang, they were faced with the loss of their previous ship, the USS Rubidoux. That ship was the birthing site of a large space organism, so at least there was life from lifelessness.

The Solvang was not so fortunate.

In one of the more shocking twists of Lower Decks's first season, the Pakleds had begun to gather pieces of other technology together, forming huge 'clumpships'. Though they weren't burdened with an overabundance of intelligence, they were suddenly in possession of fairly devastating ships.

The USS Solvang is ambushed by these Pakleds and quickly overpowered. Captain Dayton is horrified, naturally. She had just been chiding the crew not to wear their shoes on the carpet on the bridge, then here comes some of the galaxy's dumbest villains, ready to ruin her day.

The shields are quickly depleted so a quick escape would seem to be the best course of actions. Dayton gives the order to warp away, not realising that the Pakleds had grabbed the ship with giant claws and tendrils. As the Solvang engages the warp engines, a nacelle is torn away from the rest of the ship, causing a devastating explosion and destroying the Solvang, Dayton, and the entire crew.

It is bad enough to lose the ship and her crew. But to lose them to the Pakleds? That's just sad.
