3. 3. Miriam Margolyes – The £13 Million Cocaine Bust
Miriam Margolyes, best known as Professor Sprout in the Harry Potter films, has a reputation for telling outlandish and often foulmouthed stories on every chat show that Britain has on offer. But this tale worthy of a Netflix true crime drama outdoes them all by a mile.
Miriam tells Graham and the rest of the guests about the seven-bedroom house that she owns near the town of Dover, which she rents out to interested parties for a reasonable price. She emphasised that she doesn’t really know who the occupants are at any given time and just collects the money from them.
So, she was of course surprised to learn that her very upstanding property had been the subject of a drug bust by the Kent Police and that they had seized over thirteen million pounds worth of cocaine and still more of other illicit substances.
Even funnier is that certain newspapers assumed that Margolyes herself was ruling over this drug empire and took to calling her ‘Miriam Escobar’. Anyone up for another Narcos spinoff?
