10 Most Rewatchable TV Shows Of All Time
2. Frasier
An impeccably consistent show, the Kelsey Grammer-fronted Cheers spinoff exceeds its parent show in terms of laughs as well as sturdiness. While the final few seasons don’t quite live up to the earlier years, there can be few TV comedies that have managed to deliver big laughs for a run lasting over a decade.
The cast is one of comedy’s all time strongest, with Grammer joined by the late great John Mahoney, Peri Gilpin, Jane Leeves (whose accent is unfortunate but otherwise good), and best of all, David Hyde Pierce. As Niles, Pierce is a scene stealer without equal. His performance alone is worth a rewatch for. Niles’ infatuation with Daphne is a key storyline for much of the show, and Pierce portrays his character as though he is hypnotised by her presence - the detail is worth special attention.
It’s a rarity in mainstream US multicam comedy of the day, hugely literate and not too heavy on the hugging and learning. It probably doesn’t quite get the respect it deserves to this day - and that needs remedying!
