10 Most Shocking Deaths In TV History
4. Tony Blundetto – The Sopranos
Like most HBO dramas, The Sopranos killed a great many characters throughout its six seasons. From making his old friend Big Pussy Bonpensiero sleep with the fishes to the calculated suffocation of his nephew Chrisopher Moltisanti, Tony Soprano himself was responsible for many of those deaths.
The most shocking of all, however, was his killing of Tony Blundetto, his cousin and oldest confidante, at the end of the fifth season. When Tony B murders Joey Peeps, a member of the rival Lupertazzi crime family, he becomes a marked man.
Even so, when he disappears from the series to go into hiding, the audience might have believed that he escaped retribution. Not so. In the fifth season finale, Tony B is bringing groceries back to his safe house when Tony S appears from behind the porch and shoots him at point blank range with a shotgun.
Despite having gone to great lengths to protect him, Tony kills his cousin to appease his competitors, an action which would ultimately prove frustratingly pointless.
