3. Marty's Coworkers Murdered By Del Rio (Season 1)
With so many series on Netflix, a new show has to grab viewer's attention ASAP and Ozark did exactly that in its first 30 minutes. As mentioned before the writers have done a good job opening the seasons with strong premieres and this moment helped start that trend.
The setup is Del has discovered $5 million has been stolen from him by Marty's co-workers (who launder his money) and he wants it back. Everyone immediately denies stealing anything and Marty asks Del to stop putting on a "Pablo Escobar" ruse to frighten them which only makes matters worse.
Del then proceeds to kill them all execution style one by one until only Marty and his best friend Ben are left. Ben finally admits it was all his idea and that Marty had nothing to do with it, ultimately sparing his life but ending his own.
Del shoots Bruce mid apology and tells Marty that he's next. Thinking quickly Marty says that Chicago has too much law enforcement to properly launder money and if he lets him and his family move to the Ozarks he can do it even better. This was an early shocking moment, but an extremely pivotal one.
