8. Tywin Reveals His Hatred Of Tyrion
The Lannister’s are one seriously messed up family; Jaime and Cersei are secret lovers, Joffrey was a sadistic monster and Lord Tywin - the head of the family - basically despised them all.
He reserved most of his hatred for Tyrion, who he saw as a “misshapen creature” responsible for his mother’s death during childbirth. The two have a frosty relationship but Tyrion remained hopeful his father would give him a pat on the back for his bravery during the Battle Of The Blackwater; no such luck.
Tywin instead launches into a cruel tirade, telling his son in no uncertain terms just how much he hates him. Even Tyrion can’t help looking utterly crushed to hear the depth of his father’s hatred, and that there’s nothing he can do to win his respect. It’s not the last time Tywin let his children know what he taught of them either, but if nothing else they probably saved a fortune on Father’s Day cards.
