10 Most Terrifying NuWho Doctor Who Episodes

2. Blink

Doctor Who Waters of Mars
BBC

Often regarded as one of the best Doctor Who episodes ever written, Blink introduced the terrifying Weeping Angels into the NuWho universe. As one of the deadliest and most violent life forms, the angels strangely choose to kill their victims in the slowest but nicest way possible by sending them back in time to live out their lives.

An episode that focuses very little on the Doctor and his companion, we instead follow Sally Sparrow, who finds cryptic messages the Doctor left warning others about the angels, status that move when you stop looking at them, they're so fast they could kill you if you so much as blink. The slight movements of the Weeping Angels when out of view only increases the horror as viewers are forced to look in the background of scenes to see if an angel is there or not.

The episode is brilliantly written as the Doctor can be seen throughout having a one-sided conversation on DVDs as Larry, Sally's friend, describes them as Easter eggs. Sally discovers she can converse with the Doctor, who is stuck in 1969, through the DVDs as he gives her information on the angels and how to stop them using his TARDIS.

The episode ends with a creepy and final twist that every statue in the world is a Weeping Angel, warning us all, "Blink, and you're dead. Don't turn your back. Don't look away. And don't blink! Good luck."
