Ramsay Bolton Theon Greyjoy
HBO

Within the extensive number of spiteful individuals who populated Martin’s grim world, there were also several characters who stood out for their kindness rather than their brutality.

Due to her physical disfigurement and her caring personality, Shireen naturally attracted sympathy from viewers of the show from the moment she appeared on screen in Season 3.

Shireen’s relationship with Davos was especially captivating television. Ingram’s acting was never better than when she was alongside Liam Cunningham. The scenes in which Shireen taught Davos to read and write were particularly well acted and were amongst the sweetest moments in the show.

As adept as Ingram was at creating a warm atmosphere, Shireen’s death scene was her best acting. Season 5 is frequently cited as the point where the quality of the show started to dip, but there’s no denying that this particular death was one of the most horrifying to watch, and much of this was due to Ingram’s performance.

Consequently, it's unfortunate that the Stark children often overshadowed some of the other younger characters.
