10 Most Underrated TV Shows Of The Last 10 Years

6. Nathan For You

Canadian business school graduate Nathan Fielder sets out to save businesses with increasingly weird and wonderful schemes.

One of the most famous was Dumb Starbucks, a plan to save a struggling coffee shop by decking it out with the same branding as the multinational chain on the grounds of 'parody', gaining international media attention and potential litigation.

Nathan For You is a pitch-perfect parody of and antithesis to reality shows like Kitchen Nightmares. Nathan is an awkward host, constantly highlighting his inability to form friendships and connections with people. Rather than bawling people out for not following his ideas like a Gordon Ramsay character, Fielder resorts to a mixture of pleading and bruised pride.

Unlike the formulaic reality shows that it sends up, there's a proper emotional arc, culminating in the feature length finale Finding Frances, which is not only one of the great series finales of all time but a hilarious and moving film in it's own right.

Nathan For You is an ode to independent business, the American dream and a timely treatment of how lonely the modern world can be. It's available on Comedy Central in the UK and well worth seeking out.
