Continuing on with the sixth series, there were plenty more twists to come following the shocking opening episode.

A lot of you were no doubt expecting to see the the twist that River Song is actually Melody Pond, aka Amy and Rory's daughter, on this list, but let's be honest, by the time that reveal came in A Good Man Goes To War, pretty much everyone had guessed that that was the case.

A good twist nonetheless but the show had made it far too obvious.

So let's instead focus on the previous episode, The Almost People. The story had revolved around factory workers fighting off duplicates of themselves called Gangers, and all was thought to be well and good when the surviving humans and Gangers escaped in harmony with each other. But as it turns out, the story was all in service of the main series plot.

It is revealed that Amy has been a Ganger since the start of the series, having been kidnapped by The Silence in order for them to capture her newborn baby. It's a stunning twist that completely alters how you re-watch the first half of the series.

Looking back you notice all the signs and everything makes perfect sense. The sign of a great unexpected moment.
