10 Most Uplifting Star Trek Moments

1. Voyager Gets A Message From Home - Pathfinder

Voyager Message From Home
CBS

Picking the top moment for this list was difficult - in a franchise so full of hope and joy, how does one pick a number one? However, this moment encapsulates what this writer feels is everything Star Trek is meant to be about.

Star Trek Voyager has a special place in the hearts of many fans. It concluded the 'modern' Trek era pre-Picard on TV and had seven years to let the characters grow. It stumbled in the beginning as they all did, hammering home its mission a little heavy handed, thankfully tempered by wonderful performances along the way. Kate Mulgrew's leadership ably steered the crew to safety and the show into the hearts of the viewers.

We cared about these characters. The threats that they faced were always combined with the fact that they were alone, separated from the rest of the mighty Federation. If anything, Voyager truly displayed just how much the rest of the series relied on the proximity of fellow officers and starships when the going got tough. Voyager had no such luck.

After six years, which was a brave decision on the part of the producers, Voyager finally contacts Starfleet and it is achieved not by efforts of their own but by officers back home who have never given up on them. For Voyager, they are contacted out of the blue. For the audience, we finally after six years see this lost crew welcomed back into the fold.

Many a tear was shed as Janeway speaks to Starfleet and the remaining tears were shed when Paris hears from his Dad just how proud he makes him. Voyager rejoins Starfleet and families are reunited. The Galaxy is a little smaller. The family ever bigger.

Star Trek is about a brighter future and this top moment showed that family and community, something we have available right now, is the most important thing.
