While David Tennant was an extremely popular Doctor and will go down as the best in many's books, the viewing figures for this episode were still astonishing. For the second of a two parter to receive extra viewers in not unheard of in Who history, but when over 12 million watched the first part it is one hell of an achievement. The fact that this episode was screened on New Years Day made the figures all the more remarkable.

The episode proves to be a fitting farewell for Tennant, an unwelcome reunion with the Timelords ending The Master's threat, only for a greater threat to take its place. The way The Master and The Doctor help each other out of near death experiences is a great change, but it's the heartbreaking realisation of the knock four times prophecy that is the highlight.

Tennant's speech to Wilf is heartbreaking, but as always his actions speak larger than words, coming to the aid of a man he could be forgiven for not assisting considering the consequences. The regeneration takes a little longer than usual, allowing for the tying up of loose ends, while The Doctor gets to say a final farewell with all his companions. Thankfully this lets us say a final farewell to him. Well at least until the next entry on the list...

With all the suave and sophistication of any Aussie half way through a slab, Luke will critique every minute detail of films and shows from all eras- unless it's 1990's Simpsons episodes, because they're just perfect
