The problem with prolonged mystery is that the solution is rarely satisfying. It's just human nature to expect more and more when something is concealed for so long (case in point: a small country's worth of Lost fans). Fans of the television show Pretty Little Liars learned this the hard way in 2015 when the long-concealed identity of A was finally revealed, and the moment was incredibly disappointing. Over the course of five seasons, fans debated, theorized and attempted to wildly predict the identity of A. Every time an answer seemed forthcoming, nothing came, and every time an answer seemed obvious, somebody else would die. In the end, the black hoodie was removed, revealing the character CeCe Drake. Across the internet there was fan outrage, with many expressing shock and disappointment at the reveal. At the end of the day, though, could anything have satisfied fans?
