10 Netflix Original Shows Cancelled After One Season
7. Gypsy
A psychological drama series starring Oscar nominee Naomi Watts as a therapist who manipulates her patients and interferes with their lives behind their backs, with a Fleetwood Mac theme song re-recorded by Stevie Nicks? What could go wrong?
As it turns out, basically everything went wrong with Gypsy, a series that showed great promise but was rightly savaged by critics due to its preposterous premise and heavy-handed melodrama.
The cancellation of the show after its first season was quite complicated behind-the-scenes, mind, since the producers were under the impression they'd get a renewal and already had much of a second season written and ready to go.
Netflix's views on the show's unceremonious end basically came down to the fact that they needed to cancel more shows because they had too many in the pipeline at once. Besides, considering how genuinely poor Gypsy was, ending it early was probably a good call in the long run.
