10 Netflix Original Shows Cancelled After One Season

3. The Society

The Society's premise is the stuff potentially great shows are made of, recalling the likes of Lost and Lord of the Flies as a group of teenagers attempt to survive in a town cut-off from the outside world after most of its population disappears.

Sporting great work from its committed cast, some intriguing mysteries and effective plot twists, the drama was a critical and commercial success, prompting Netflix to renew it for a second season.

Following its renewal, however, the streaming service were forced to reverse their decision due to the pressures of the COVID-19 pandemic, and filming - which was set to begin just a month after the announcement - was indefinitely put on hold.

In their official statement (released alongside their decision to cancel I Am Not Okay with This), Netflix made a point of thanking the cast and crew for their work, and rather tragically have said nothing about possibly bringing the show back somewhere down the line.
