10 Netflix Original Shows Cancelled After One Season
4. Everything Sucks!
Often fairly compared to fellow one-season hit Freaks and Geeks, Everything Sucks! took place in an American high school in the mid-90s, following two groups of misfit students as they navigate the complexities of growing up and finding themselves.
At once a witty deconstruction of 90s teen culture and an affecting portrait of complex issues such as sexuality, mental health and romance, the show was mostly well-received for its themes and the stunning work of its young cast.
According to reports, Netflix's algorithm for recording audience numbers found that few people were finishing the ten-episode season, and saw no room for a bigger audience in the future.
This cancellation particularly hurts for fans because it ended on a major cliffhanger, and much of season two had already been mapped out to act on it. Everything sucks, indeed.
