10 New TV Shows Of Fall 2017 Guaranteed To Succeed
3. The Gifted
The Gifted comes on the tails of Legion, the first successful live action X-Men television show. But unlike Legion, which used the framing of a superhero story to create a darkly psychological show, The Gifted incorporates elements of family drama into the more traditional X-Men story.
It stars Stephen Moyer (True Blood) and Amy Acker (80% of the Joss Whedon universe but most notably Angel and Dollhouse) as a set of parents who struggle with the fact that their children are mutants with superpowers, and have to take their family on the run to escape persecution. They then join an underground community of mutants who are trying to fight back against the government.
It's one of the most hotly anticipated shows of the upcoming season, and although all signs point to it being much more traditional and not as creatively experimental as Legion was on FX, it seems like it should be a safe bet for at least a few seasons worth of content.
