Why He Was Hated

It might sound like sacrilege now, but Steve Harrington wasn't really a nice guy when we first met him and no amount of appreciation for his beautifully coiffed hair could get around the fact that most people would probably not have minded if he'd been killed off.

Thanks to the simmering romance between Nancy and Jonathan, Steve ended up being painted as a bit of a villain who the writers needed an excuse to paint poorly. So they made him a bully and an annoyance and made Nancy's difficulty in dealing with Barbara's death

But Then...

Once he was out of the way as a romantic rival, Steve blossomed and it was a remarkable and very quick transition. He beat the axe at the end of the first season and when the second debuted, he was charming, adorable and a sort of self-appointed matriarch for the group - their babysitter who gradually became more like them as he spent more time with them.

If he's not now your favourite character, he'll be right up there.
