10 Origins Of Star Trek Props You Won't Believe

8. Johnny 5's Arm From Short Circuit

In the Star Trek: Voyager episode Prototype, the crew encountered a robotic body floating through space. They beamed it aboard and B'Elanna Torres was able to reactivate it. The robot identified itself as an Automated Personnel Unit created by "The Builders," who we later learn were the Pralor. The robot explained that his race was made nearly extinct due to a great war, but leaves out the fact that they killed their creators, the Pralor. He then pleaded for Torres to help him rebuild his people.

Captain Janeway refused this request, believing that they did not know enough about these robots to make a decision, and in anger, the robot kidnapped Torres aboard one of his people's ships and forced her to work on the new prototype robot.

The Pralor ship is filled with interesting robotic props intended for B'Elanna to construct the prototype with, but perhaps the most interesting is a robotic arm seen in a few scenes as B'Elanna speaks to her captor. Eagle-eyed fans immediately recognized this prop as the arm of the robot Johnny 5 from Short Circuit. Whether it was intended to be an Easter egg or not, it's really cool once you notice it!
