10 Questions We Need Answering About 2017's Most Anticipated TV Shows

6. How Will It Handle Barry's Return (And A Non-Speedster Villain)? - The Flash

The Flash Barry Allen
The CW

Although Barry walked off into the Speed Force at the end of Season 3, it hasn't exactly been a secret that he's going to be returning. Grant Gustin is the star of the show, so he was always going to come back, the question is how the show handles it.

We know it's happening in the first episode, and more crucially that Barry will be changed by his experiences inside the Speed Force. Are we going to see a markedly different Flash to the one we've witnessed over the past three years? The Flash has lost some of its fun sensibilities over the last year, so does this return mean getting back to the hero (and series) everyone loved in Season 1?

The other challenge facing The Flash this year is its villain. For the first time it won't be a speedster Big Bad, but the Thinker instead. That's definitely a good move given how much the speedster thing has been overdone, but how will the writers adapt to doing a non-speedster main villain?
