7. I Will Be Your Sister Figure

Putting Debra Morgan on this list was one of the things I struggled with most, because I havent been the biggest fan of the character over the course of the show. Let me be clear that this has NOTHING to do with the acting talents of Jennifer Carpenter who can make swear words drip from her mouth like honey and makes me wish for a curse filled greetings card with her description of a baby the next time one of my friends is expecting (I wont even attempt to type it out here because of how much editing it would have to go through). In my opinion, the writers have been using Deb as a crutch. You could rename the character Deb MacGuffin and her monogram wouldnt even change. Throughout the series, Deb stands up to people when the story demands it and caves to others when it is convenient. Now that she knows Dexters secret, she is the one who has found and buried evidence that would have led to Dexters capture in any other season. And, oh yeah, there was a moment she loved her brother in that dirty sexy way because the script said should. In the end, by including Harry it meant I had to include Debra because one of the reasons we like Dexter is how we see him react with her. Where as Harry is still there for Dexter in the form of his spiritual guide, Deb has always served as Dexters moral compass and keeps him grounded. Just like Dexter claims he isnt interested in sex but still finds time to bang the ladies, he often says he is incapable of love but has proven himself wrong because of his bond with his sister. He even goes so far to save her life over that of his biological brother. They have more problems than the average siblings, but the Morgans seem pretty tight.
