4. The Signature Collection
These are the movies which make Disney, Disney. Obviously, the new acquisitions and recent company developments have garnered the most press coverage and intrigue, but Disney isn’t what it is because it owns Star Wars.
Yes, you can see Captain America, Rey and Buzz Lightyear strolling around Disneyworld, but the biggest queues are still for Cinderella and Snow White.
Well, those and Space Mountain.
The point is, while those extra properties will likely drag in a helluva lot more customers, it just wouldn’t be Disney without the animated classics. The Signature Collection - as well as a line of McDonald’s burgers - are the old Disney movies which have since been updated and released on Blu-Ray.
There are only nine so far, but if you name a classic Disney movie, it’s probably in there. After all, this update doesn’t apply to newer, already fairly crisp movies and no one really wants a HD Ichabod & Mr Toad, or Saludos Amigos, do they?
The likes of Bambi, The Little Mermaid and Pinocchio have been given a polish for 21st Century audiences. They’ll give Disney+ that kid-friendly, warm appeal the company has always had.
