10 Reasons Disney Plus Will Dominate Netflix
2. The Mandalorian
The Mandalorian has all the ingredients to be the next big show on TV, and offers Disney+ a shot at the word of mouth market. People who don’t really follow entertainment news won’t even know Disney+ is a thing; it’s not like it’s front page news.
While having the old Star Wars movies or Simpsons box sets is great, they’re not going to get people talking around the water cooler at work. You’ve either seen Star Wars or you aren’t going to, at this stage.
A new show changes that though. Look how many people picked up Game Of Thrones on a recommendation and then binged in time to catch up for the next season. The Mandalorian, if it’s successful, could be just like that.
Just as lots of people who watch Game Of Thrones aren’t usually fantasy fans, The Mandalorian can bring in the non-Star Wars enthusiasts. It’s set to follow Pedro Pascal as the titular, gunslinging Mandalorian with a supporting cast of Bryce Dallas Howard, Carl Wethers, Werner Herzog, Nick Nolte and Carla Carano with Taika Waititi behind the camera.
With such talent and a mega successful franchise behind it, The Mandalorian could be the next big thing on TV.
