The final point is based on the type of humour; rather than simply saying this is bad, Family Guy has a tendency to say this is worse than that time that did something inappropriate or controversial. This opens up a whole new realm for humour; a scene of what ifs and imagination. The Simpsons tends to follow the day of the characters, so this type of humour is often absent. The opportunities with this type of humour are endless, and Peter Griffin and company have taken full advantage of this. This type of humour has driven the show, and this is what has made it such a cult success. This is what differentiates it from the the increasingly crowded genre. These what if scenarios facilitate the edgy comedy that defines Family Guy, and it is these scenes that make it that much better than The Simpsons. Which do you think is better?
